Midwest Solar Power is seeking an assistant project manager – intern to join our solar electric team. We are a growing, locally owned company that has been installing solar electric systems in the Madison area since 2009. As an assistant project manager – intern, you will play an active role in creating and organizing documentation to support the installation and maintenance of solar PV systems. You will support the completion and submission of utility and permit applications for residential solar projects. You will complete other file organization, office, and warehouse tasks such as setting up customer monitoring portals and receiving shipments. You will have the opportunity to learn about the solar industry and state, municipal, and utility regulations. The ideal candidate for this position will be self-motivated, have excellent attention to detail, and be highly interested in joining the renewable energy industry.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a two or four year degree in Solar Energy, Engineering, Design, Construction Management, Project Management or a related field.
  • Available to work through September 2026. (Additional hours during summer months may be possible, as well as an extension beyond September 2026).

Duties

  • Create documentation and drawings for permit and utility applications
  • Interact with customers to gather information and provide updates on project status
  • Set up, update, maintain and organize electronic project files
    Submit permit and utility applications; discuss applications with municipal and utility representatives; coordinate post installation inspections
  • Complete Focus on Energy rebate paperwork for customer projects
  • Assist in the intake, analysis, and scheduling of service and warranty requests
  • Receive and process shipments
  • Assist the social media lead in social media posting and management

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite products.
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet, Asana or similar project management software is a plus.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Pay

  • $21/hour

  • Expected hours: 20 hours/week
